The beginnings of Astrology can be traced back to Babylonia days about 3500 years ago. The Babylonians had a well developed science of observational astronomy which provided them with a calendar of when to plant, harvest or hold certain religious ceremonies throughout the year.
Planetary omens were developed by 1000BC and they started setting their knowledge down in literature.
The planets were all given importance and named in honour of their many gods and goddesses. By 600 BC a 12 sign zodiac was devised and they developed markers in ths sky which roughly correspond with the months of the year.
For many years people have turned to astrologers for advice and information on all parts of their lives, although with the coming of Christianity astrology had become almost extinct by the early Middle Ages but was kept alive in the middle east by Islamic scholars.
In the 1600's a ne thinking came about with the discovery of elliptical solar system.
Most of us know what our sun sign is. This however s only a small part of who we are, as the solar system consists of a star (the Sun) orbited by nine other planets to get a more indepth detail or blue print of an individual we need to know placing of these planets at the time of our birth.
What the Sun means in each Sign. (A brief discription)
The Sun is the largest body in the sky and is where all life comes from. It takes a long time for your Sun sign to become evident in your external appearance and you may find you are more like your ascendant (which is your conscious self,that is what you would like to be, rather than what you are)

Sun in Aries (21 March 20 April) Aries are fiesty, straightfoward and adventurous with abundant energy and drive. They are usually excellent motivators and have no time for laziness. Keen-witted individuals they usually ger straight to the heart of any problem and a re uch admired by being quick on the uptake.
The first sign of the zodiac, Aries represents Springtime, the burgeoning of new life and a great upsurge of energy and optimism
Sun in Taurus (21 April 21st May) Taureans are the reliable, responcible and affectionate types which have a winning way with money. Taureans would rather stick to well-established plans than change or adapt and are excellent homemakers and builders of secure families. Taureans love routine and do not often question rules and regulations as this to them is just how it is.

Sun in Gemini (22 May 21st June) Gemini's tend to be quick witted, versatile and adaptable. Usually jacks of all trades and masters of none they can go from job to job, idea to idea quite freely and need more than one project on the go at any one time so as not to get bored, as they need constant intellectual and social stimulation. Versatile and adaptable they are quick to turn apparant disadvantages into personal successes. Mercury rules Gemini and the element is Air.
Sun in Cancer (22 June 22 July) Cancers ruling plant is the Moon and Elemnt is Water. Cancerians are the most family centred of the zodiac and are very protective of their loved ones. They can however be great worriers, constantly fretting about health and safety of their family and friends, they can take offence easily, often going off in a huff and when falling out with others often keep their distance for long periods of time.
Sun in Leo (23rd July 23rd August) Leo is ruled by the Sun itself and is the element of Fire. Leos are usually powerful, ambitious and protective. They are also outgoing and optimistic and definitely the kings of the jungle. Leoines can fly into towering rages when challenged and although can recover quicker can cause the other person to be left shaken. Leo's are the party animals of the universe and a dynamic and uninhibited beings, usually believing they can achieve whatever they set out to do.
Sun in Virgo (24th August 22nd September) Virgos often have the quiet unsophisticated air of someone that is inexperienced in life. This however can be deceptive. They are usually meticulous, tidy and thorough individuals and are essentially practicle types with few impossible dreams. It is the Virgoan that will be the minutes keepr and they will keep all kinds of records...Great journal writers. Virgo is ruled by the planet Mercury and is an Earth element.
Sun in Libra (23rd September 23rd October) Librans are all about peace, harmony and balance. Librans are usually pleasant and companionable and trusted members of society. Librans can appear to lack drive as they are undemanding and laid back individuals but this makes them ones that can fit easily into a team. The ruling planet of Libra is Venus and heir element is Air.
Sun in Scorpio (24th October 22nd November) Scorpians are usually excitable, energetic and passionate about life. Most Scorpian sun signs have a very strong sex drive which may be expressed in endless flirting and power games. Scorpians are the sign that understands that the concept of death is always followed by a rebirth and are the sign most likely to be able to rise up from the ashes like the phoenix, springing back into life after any downfall they may experience. Scorpio's ruling planets are Mars and Pluto and they are the element of water.
Sun in Sagittarius (23rd November 21st December) Sagittarian element is fire and they are ruled by Jupiter. Sagittarius individuals are usually very likeable people known for their enthusiastic, optimistic and tolerant natures. Although they can often be restless they are also incouraging and inspiring of those close to them. They do a lot of the time have trouble focusing on any one project and can appear restless and flighty. Sagittarians love adventure but also love to sit with books and read for hours.
Sun in Capricorn (22nd December 20th January) Capricorns are the disciplined, methodical sensicble and sensitive signs. If this sounds like they are cold and boring, in a lot of cases they can be. But as I have said at the beginning of this page our sun sign is only a small part of who we are. Capricorns are also cautious by nature and usually sense pitfalls and obstacles long before they become apparant, this though can make them miss opportunties and become stuck in situations as they jduge things before they happen. Capricorn is an earth sign and is ruled by Saturn.
Sun in Aquarius (21st January 18th February) Aquarians are usually friendly, idealistic, independant types. Sun sign Aquarians can seem eccentric. They are dictatorial and hate being told what to do, so make better employers than employees. Humanitarian by nature they make great leaders and frequently hold strong political views. Out od all the signs Aquarian sun signs are usually compatiable with every other sign. They dont like limits that much but thrive if they have time to themselves. Aquarius is an Air element and is ruled by the planets Uranus and Saturn.
Sun in Pisces (19th February 20th March) Sun sign in Psices produces emotional dreamy and somewhat insecure people with strong psychic and creative instincts. The kind sensitive souls of the universe they delight in the happiness and fulfilment of others. They however can view lifes situations through rose tinted glasses making them unrealistic at times.
